I have been diagnosed with Inclusive Body Myopathy, an autoimmune disease in which my immune system kicked in to fight an infection, but once the infection was cured the immune system did not stop, but then attacked my muscles. This caused me to be very tired, achey, and to gradually lose body strength. There is no medical treatment for this disease, and it has only been recognized in the last few years. At one time I could hardly turn over in bed. My internal medicine doctor, rheumatology doctor, and physical therapist helped me to regain some strength, but I could not go any farther in treatment, and it was hard for me to get out of a chair. I also had very bad acid reflux, high blood pressure, a bladder infection, gradual memory loss, and a thyroid problem. I have started being treated by Dr. Berglund and I am getting stronger and I am able to get out of a chair better. I am gradually getting off of a very powerful medicine for my rigidity, and my acid reflux is better. I am taking one much weaker pill than the two very strong pills for this problem, and my bladder infection, blood pressure, memory, and thyroid problems are also much better. Thank you, Dr. Berglund.
